Tucked away in the Ozarks, Winoka Lodge was owned by the Schweitzer family and used as a summer home. The story goes that 3 girls were abducted from its Girl Scout camp and were sexually assaulted by a crazed lunatic. The legend haunted the site for years, until recent research revealed that, though the story was true, it actually took place in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.

However, many scare seekers still believe the area is haunted due to the summer home and lodge being built on top of Indian burial grounds. Visitors have reported hearing unexplained sounds or seeing fresh fires built when no other campers were visible in the area.

Most of the ruins have been turned into a canvas for graffiti artists.

If you’re too scared to make the trip to Springfield, Missouri and check out the site, then take a look at the footage a couple visitors took while they were visiting the old Winoka Lodge.
