When people think of wineries near Kansas City, usually the first place that comes to mind is Pirtle Winery in Weston. And while Weston’s historic downtown, brewery and winery are wonderful places to visit for a day trip, they oftentimes get packed by other day-trippers looking to do the same.

I first came across Albonée Country Inn and Vineyards by mere accident. After running along the Little Blue Trace trail in Independence, Missouri, I was looking for a fun place to eat or have a refreshing drink. That’s when I came across Albonée. While I only stayed for the complimentary wine tasting, I noticed they had a beautiful bed and breakfast as well. My friend and I were the only patrons in the wine tasting room and we were helped by Judy, who was well-educated on all of the wines and how they were made.
