And just like the old saying, “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone,” you won’t realize all the little things there are to miss until you actually leave. Not so sure? If there were an official mayonnaise of the South, it’d probably be Duke’s. The creamy creation goes perfectly on everything from ‘mater sandwiches to BLTs, so the idea of living without it is absolutely terrifying for any Mississippian.
Monogramming is a great way to add a charming touch to just about anything – from tea towels to handbags. It’s so popular, in fact, that many stores in the South offer the option onsite; however, head up North and you’ll quickly realize this is more of a southern thing.

We Mississippians tend to move at a slower pace, giving ourselves time to enjoy the small things in life – like small talk. Head to a bigger city, and you’ll quickly realize that people don’t have time for manners, let alone chatting with a stranger.

Sure, big cities are great, but there’s nothing quite like a charming small town. From quaint Main Streets and friendly residents to incredible scenery and loads of history, small towns are truly one-of-a-kind.
Tailgating is HUGE here in Mississippi and around the South. In other places? Not so much. Even those who think they know how to tailgate – don’t. To make it crystal clear, nobody tailgates like the South.
Sure, Mississippi humidity is brutal, but moving away could mean facing freezing temperatures and blankets of snow.
