Since winter lasts so long in Minnesota, there are a lot of people here who really get into it. They make the most of our state by spending as much time outdoors as possible, even in the winter. Some of them ski, some love ice fishing, and some participate in activities of a more creative nature. For three brothers in Minnesota, they tend towards the latter by making an amazing snow sculpture each year.

Every winter, the Bartz brothers turn their front yard into a winter wonderland with an out-of-this-world snow sculpture. And this year’s sculpture may be the best one yet. Be sure to check out the time-lapse video below of the brothers creating this year’s sculpture!

The first sculpture - a pufferfish - was created in 2012. It kicked off a whole series of sea-themed sculptures.

The following year brought an equally impressive walrus to the Bartz' front yard.

And then in 2014, a shark added to the sea theme. It even came with multiple rows of pointy teeth!

But they weren't done yet. The 2015 sculpture was a giant sea turtle. The detail on the fins is seriously impressive.

But they even topped that with an ambitious sculpture of an octopus. Note the arch over the walkway.

This year, the brothers went for realism. The intricately detailed scales make this fish look almost real, if it weren't for its giant size.

This year's sculpture was unveiled on December 31 and will stay until spring. You can visit at 2777 16th Street Northwest, St. Paul.

But don't think it's all for fun. The brothers are collecting donations for clean water in Malawi. In the past, they have raised thousands of dollars for various charities.
