We thought we had seen just about every angle imaginable of Michigan. We’ve marveled at its lakes and rivers, cities and countrysides, and all corners of its peninsulas – Upper and Lower.

But we hadn’t considered looking up at the heavens. That is, until we came across the handy work of YouTube user Matthew Eddy. In this video, simply named Milky Way Time Lapse – Michigan, Eddy compiles 5,659 individual images, taken over 11 nights from May of 2013 until July of 2014, using two cameras (equaling 50.2 hours of footage!) to produce this spectacular show of lights brought to us by the Milky Way, by way of Leelanau County.

Have a look.

Wow – just wow. And to think all it took to make this was a couple of cameras and a little patience. Tell us though, where in Michigan are your favorite places for stargazing?
