Here Are the 6 Best Places To Go Sled Riding In Michigan This Winter

Well… This is awkward. By now, most of the Mitten State is usually buried in snow. This year, not so much. Blame it on El Nino, climate change, or or plain old bad luck (or good luck, depending on your feelings about snow). For many of us, the lack of that white stuff this season has had us shaking our heads and saying, what gives?

Well, the whole of Michigan wasn’t exactly void of snow. The UP has enjoyed some of it. And this week, thanks to some sort of crazy weather pattern, much of the lower end of the state is at least getting a little bit of the winter action.

In case you’re of the mindset that snow makes the winter season complete and you want to have a little fun with it, we’ve found a handful of spots you’re going to want to check out for the sledding, skiing, and tubing potentials. Take a look.

1. Muskegon Winter Sports Complex, Muskegon State Park

One of our faithful readers tipped us off to aerial video footage by YouTube userĀ Eagle Eye Photography of this winter wonderland. Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, this impressive park boasts a luge track, ski trail system, and ice skating rinks. The view from this drone videography has us wanting to pack our winter gear and head over right away.

OK, so there really are some choices for optimal sledding or tubing this winter. That’s got to be of some consolation for some of you. Tell us though, where are your favorite sledding or tubing spots that we should know about? Obviously that hill in your own back yard is probably your old standby, but maybe there are some pretty cool public spaces we and other readers would love to explore. Tell us all about it!
