There is something about passing by an old barn on a country road that reminds us of our nation’s strong tradition in agriculture, working with our hands, and not being afraid of getting dirty to get the job done. Sadly, many of these relics are just that, relics of a bygone era. But we salute those of you who are still holding on to these proud structures and not letting them fade from our memories.
Even in the dull of darkness, this old-time barn looks inviting with that welcome banner on it.
This old barn, and that Ford truck parked alongside it, have clearly stood the test of time.

We like how the golden, overgrown grass appears to be overtaking this barn.
Flickr user Rachel Kramer, whose photos make regular appearances on OnlyInYourState, says in the caption for this faded, red barn that she cropped one side of it to hide a camping trailer connected to it. She said such appendages are common among Michigan barns.
The snow really goes well up against this faded, old barn.

Even though this barn is clearly showing signs of dilapidation, there's something nostalgic about this image.
Now this is about as idyllic a barn image as we can think of.
We're not sure exactly where this old barn is in the state, but we love how the silvery sky in the background really complements it.
This old barn may have lost its paint long ago, but it still looks as sturdy as ever.
We have to admit, we're impressed with the ingenuity involved in keeping this ancient-looking barn in one piece.

Flickr user Jim says these shots were taken back in 1976, during our nation's bicentennial. The barn, located at Bohemian Road (County Road 669) and M-22, east of Glen Arbor, has since had these murals painted over. Jim says he posted these images to ensure they were not forgotten.
