On July 20th, Detroit’s newest public outdoor space was opened in the city’s west side of downtown. Named Beacon Park, the space promises to be an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Check out what Beacon Park will offer Detroiters this summer and beyond – it will be open year-round!
Beacon Park opened on July 20 and was developed by DTE Energy. The park was revealed near Grand Army of the Republic Building. Developers are hoping that the park will be like a second Campus Martius in downtown.
The 1.5-acre park is way more than just a green space. Beacon Park will include a big central lawn, walking paths, a performance space, areas for outdoor activities, as well as convenient bike parking and even a restaurant and food truck!

The park is a fantastic space for children of all ages. During it's grand opening, the park included a family day of fun and a screening of "Back to the Future," complete with a real Delorean for photo ops.
Other events that have already taken place include a beer garden, outdoor fitness activities, a night market, light activations, as well as the opening of a year-round restaurant.
