Every Detroiter knows that our proximity to Canada is one of our proudest assets. Each day, thousands of Detroit residents and Canadians pass back and forth over our beloved Ambassador Bridge, which effortlessly connects us to our international neighbors. There’s simply no other bridge in the country that allows for such quick and easy access to another nation, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Ambassador Bridge itself is a modern marvel, spanning 7,500 feet and standing nearly 400 feet tall. Since 1929, this Detroit fixture has represented brotherhood and neighborly love between the Motor City and Windsor, Ontario. That’s right: our iconic suspension bridge has been in service for 87 years!

While crossing, drivers can enjoy sweeping views of the Detroit River and watch as ferries and boats pass below. But as scenic as it is to cross the bridge in a car, there’s nothing quite so remarkable as seeing the Ambassador and its surrounding landscape from the clear skies above. Fortunately for us, YouTube user TheGadgetGuy1 captured the stunning drone footage below — and you’re about to observe the Detroit-Ontario border in an entirely new way.

Wow, talk about magnificent footage. It’s not every day that we have the opportunity to marvel at our city from such a unique vantage point. How often do you cross the Ambassador Bridge? How has the Detroit River and the area around the bridge changed throughout the years? We’d love to hear your thoughts, stories, and memories in the comment section below.
