John Clifford Bell opened Cliff Bell's in 1935. It was a swanky and luxurious club that was made up of brass and mahogany. Cliff Bell's was one of the busiest places in the downtown area during the '30s, '40s and '50s. In the '70s and '80s some might remember it under different names, including The Winery, La Cave and JB's on the Park. The club closed in 1985, but in 2005 it reopened after just six months of hard work. The building's owners kept John Clifford Bell's old club in mind, and you can tell by the mahogany and brass that makes up the new bar.

Cliff Bell's is unlike any other club or bar in Detroit. Live jazz music is played almost every night with different bands and artists showing off their amazing talents. The jazz club has an impressive menu that features an awesome selection of charcuterie and entrees like Wagyu Strip Steak, homemade pasta, lamb, grilled filet and tasty scallops. On Sundays, Cliff Bell's offers brunch from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the menu changing weekly.
