This Tiny Massachusetts Town Turns Into A Beach Once A Year And It Looks Epic

Think you have to head to the coast to spend some time on the beach? Think again.

Each year, the town of North Adams transforms its downtown into a real, sandy beach for a day and it’s absolutely amazing. We’re talking actual sand spread curb-to-curb all along the streets, plus a fun and festive atmosphere that may make this the best beach party in the state.

The event is totally free, and there’s even a beach-side margarita party for the grown-ups in the evening. Read on to learn more about this incredible event and how to attend!

This awesome event proves that you don’t need an ocean to have a beach day!

Each year in mid-July, downtown North Adams transforms overnight into a beachy paradise.

Over 250,000 pounds of sand are spread curb-to-curb down the entire length of Eagle Street.

The downtown area comes to life with colorful decorations, live music and plenty of delicious treats.

You can build sandcastles, splash in pools to cool off or even construct massive sand sculptures.

Feel free to bring sand shovels, pails and your beachiest attire.

Kids will love playing with their friends in the sand, while adults will love kicking off their shoes and basking in the sunshine with a cold drink.

There are plenty of performers and activities for all ages.

Kids can play in the sand from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Afterwards, the grown-up fun begins!

The adult-oriented evening kicks off at 7 p.m. with music, dancing, and margaritas served right on the beach.

Dance in the sand, sip a cool beverage and grab a bite to eat at the restaurants along Eagle Street.
