We’ve all got our favorite hidden trails in Maine, but what’s the use of keeping them just for ourselves? Sharing the best of the outdoors is in our mission, and today we’re telling you about a great secret trail in Maine that will take you right to a secret beach AND a bygone mansion!

Those looking for adventure, need only to visit Acadia National Park and they're sure to find it!

But, the best adventures are not the ones they rave about in the Visitor's Center. Some of the best are the lesser known ones!

The trail is now marked, so you'll need to find the trailhead and you'll be on your way.

About a mile down the easy, measured path, you'll begin seeing the remnants of the Dorr Estate.

George Dorr is known as the Father of Acadia, as he played a pivotal role in adding land to the park.

George Dorr passed away in 1944, and Acadia took over ownership.

Over time, the mansion turned to rubble and was eventually burned down in a controlled fire.

From the remains of the mansion, you'll see granite steps which lead to the water.

These steps are said to be haunted by the ghost of Dorr and his caretaker, who often follow hikers up and down the steps.

But, you'll leave the friendly ghosts behind when you reach Compass Harbor.

The area is peaceful and quiet.

And, when the fog rolls in you may be able to hear a ghostly voice behind you thanking you for your visit.
