Maine has so many ways to enjoy the outdoors but, with so many options, choosing can be hard. Adding to that difficulty is that many beaches, lakes and parks are crowded during the summer. But, when we found this fun and unexpected park near Standish we knew we’d found something special. It’s unassuming but easily accessed and completely free! Check out this spot for a few hours of fun in the Maine sun.

Limington Rapids Rest Area is a good example of a hidden Maine gem!

Located in Limington, off of Route 25 approaching Standish, this place is much more than a typical "rest area."

It's actually more of a park and it's nestled right next to the Saco River.

The picnic area is directly next to the rushing water.

And, nearby there's a wooden bridge leading to a small rock island within the Saco River.
