This Ice Carousel Might Be The Most Maine Thing To Ever Happen

Every so often, something happens in Maine that has us simultaneously scratching our heads while also beaming with immense pride. It’s moments like these when we remember who we really are. Mainers are a special breed. We can make it through rough winters and then turn around and soak up the sun without any ill will towards our northern location and the months of cold we endured.

We not only make the best of challenging situations, but we actually have FUN doing it.

As winter comes to a close and ice out is upon us, it's time to switch from using lakes for snowmobiling to using lakes for fishing.

But this ingenious group in The County, is going out with a bang!

If you'd have been on Long Lake in Sinclair a few weeks ago, you'd have come across an actual ice carousel built in the melting ice.

The circular, floating ice turns in the water, allowing those standing on it to get a 360-degree view of their surroundings.

And while you may have heard of others doing something similar using a pulley system with ropes, this one is FAR more unique!

The entire thing is powered by an outboard motor and this gas can.

Which means that nobody has to sacrifice their good time with friends by being the one to pull the thing!
