Love is in the air! Or, maybe that’s just the Spring rain coming from nature’s faucet that seems to have been left in the “on” position for the last few weeks. Either way, we recommend you head to these places in Maine with that special someone. If you’re in love, these will be just the activities to keep things going. If you’re not using the L-word just yet, these might move things to the next level. Nothing says “I love you” like a giant cave spewing salt water and thunderous noise, right?

1. Cellardoor Winery, Linconville

The vineyards at Cellardoor Winery exist on 68 acres of land and include a 200-year-old post-and-beam barn. Perhaps its beauty and charm come from the fact that it's only had a handful of owners over its 200-year existence. This is a truly unique Maine experience.

2. A plane ride over Acadia National Park

Acadia Air Tours offers rides in Biplanes, Cessnas, and Gliders over Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. This is a beautiful way to see the area from above and means you won't have to contend with any crowds. It also means you won't be required to work up a sweat, which is pretty cool. 3. Thunder Hole. Acadia National Park

Sure, there might be others watching this incredible cave spew forth is bizarre sounds but the more the merrier we always say. Thunder Hole makes its eponymous sound when air is forced out by incoming waves. Watch the cave, feel the love, move onto something less noisy.
4. A walk around Peaks Island in Casco Bay

Peaks Island is easily accessible from Portland and offers a fun day of walking through little neighborhoods and along rocky coast. At the end of your walk, head to the Cockeyed Gull for drinks before hopping back on the ferry. We recommend sticking around for the sunset to look like a real hero of planning!
5. A ride on one of Maine's scenic byways.

For some quality time in the car with your love, consider a long drive in the best parts of the state. Hop on one of our scenic byways and enjoy the sites throughout Maine. One of our favorites is the Rangeley Lakes National Scenic Byway. This 52-mile route on State Routes 17, 16, and 4 surrounds Rangeley Lake and crosses the Appalachian Trail. The most memorable part is the view of Mooselookmeguntic Lake at the Height of Land.

6. Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Boothbay Harbor

These gorgeous gardens are not only a treasure in Maine, but the whole country actually recognizes it as one of the best around. Taking your love for a visit means that maybe they'll have their fill of flowers and you won't be on the hook for a bouquet anytime soon. Or, it might spark a new love of gardening. 7. The sunrise view atop Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park

On the east coast, the first sunrise is visible from the summit of this famous mountain. You'll need to get up early, but who can sleep when you're SO IN LOVE?!
8. The Eastern Prom, Portland

The Eastern Prom in Portland offers incredible views of Casco Bay. After your romantic stroll, you can talk about how you'll one day live in a mansion like the ones atop the hill. Then you can go home and hope they forget about that part.
9. The view out over Camden from the summit of Mount Battie.

"Roses are red, violets are blue, I go absolutely batty for this view. And you." While you're under no obligation to use our poem, we recommend it if you want to take this trip to the truly epic depths of romance. Otherwise it's just another perfect Maine view, which must be getting boring at this point. Head to Camden Hills State Park and drive up to the summit of Mount Battie. Your impressive view will include Penobscot Bay, the town of Camden and the Camden Hills further afield.
10. The Merryspring Nature Center, Camden

Sure, it's another garden but we love this one for its lesser-known factor. While the garden is beautiful and full of flowers, it's one of the only gardens that also functions as a place for outdoor enthusiasts. It also features 66 acres and features open fields, hiking trails, an arboretum and cross-country skiing trails.
