When you think about the risks of living in New Orleans, what comes to mind? While many of these things have very positive sides as well, here are some of the biggest risks of living in New Orleans.
1) Lack of privacy
If you live in a shotgun, you get used to being in people's business---and the city is so small, it's like that even when you go out!
There's no doubt, if you are looking to waste time in New Orleans, it's pretty easy to do...
3) Car accidents
There's a reason we have the highest insurance rates in the country---it's not always this bad...but it can be!
4) Needing vacation time for Mardi Gras—no matter where you are
Once you are used to celebrating Mardi Gras, it feels sacrilegious not to.
5) Hurricanes & flooding
As we all know, there are inherent environmental risks here that we have to be aware of all the time.
6) Peter-Pan Syndrome
There are a lot of people who come here so that they never have to grow up...so just be careful trying to settle down with them!
7) Mosquito bites
Especially in the summer, you want to watch out!
8) Glitter. Everywhere.
You only have to go through one Mardi Gras to have glitter throughout your house for the rest of your life.
9) Heat stroke
It's so hot here sometimes, all you can do it stay inside.
10) Coffee addiction
You can't go five steps without coming upon a coffee shop, so if you are trying to cut down on caffeine, good luck!
11) Inability to live anywhere else
Once this place has gotten under your skin, it's really hard to move.
