The museum is located at the site of America’s first licensed pharmacist, Louis J. Dufilho, Jr.

In 1804, Louisiana passed a law that required a licensing exam for pharmacists that wanted to continue to practice their profession. That same year, a board of pharmacists and physicians administered a three-hour oral exam at the Cabildo in Jackson Square, and Dufilho was the first to pass the test.
When you walk in, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported through time.
