We all know that infrastructure has suffered in Louisiana over the years, and now we are paying the price. A recent study identified the 8 most traveled bridges labeled as “structurally deficient” in our state. In fact, a recent report identified close to 2,000 structurally deficient bridges in the state out of the nearly 13,000 bridges found here, making 14% of our bridges unsafe. Here are some of the worst offenders:
Known by some as the Claiborne Ave. Overpass, this bridge over the heart of New Orleans has more than 84,720 travelers a day. Some proposals for fixing the bridge have suggested taking it down altogether, and just diverting traffic onto Claiborne Ave.
This bridge is known as the most endangered bridge in Louisiana, and has landed on more than a couple national watch lists. It has more than 70,000 travelers a day.

This bridge over I-10 in St. Martin Parish was built in 1970. It leads into Breaux Bridge and has more than 60,000 travelers a day.

Both the east and west directions of this bridge are listed as being structurally deficient, with close to 60,000 travelers a day in each direction.
