A Drive Down Louisiana's Loneliest Road Will Take You Miles And Miles Away From It All

Every now and then, you just need to go for a drive. Hitting those back roads to take in the scenery and jam out to your favorite music can be a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Louisiana has some amazing scenic roads that’ll take you miles and miles away from it all, but there’s one in particular you should really check out.

Nestled in the middle of the Kisatchie National Forest, the Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway is the peaceful getaway you’ve been searching for.

The road only stretches about 17 miles, so it’s easy to tackle in an afternoon.

You won’t find any gas stations or restaurants along this road, but there are some wonderful scenic outlooks, campgrounds, and picnic areas.

Elevations range from 80-400 feet above sea level, and the landscape is a change of scenery from the flat lands and bayous you may be used to.

There are a few trails that run through the area, if you want to set off on foot.

The area is nicknamed the "Little Grand Canyon." With views like this it's easy to forget you're in Louisiana!
