Sure, most people have heard of Grand Isle as the beach destination in Louisiana–but that’s not the only one. There are some little known beaches in Louisiana that are certainly going to make you smile and make your summer unforgettable. We’ve found some gorgeous ones that are certain to bring a smile to your face. Add in some boat tours this summer, and you’re on your way to an unforgettable summer!
The largest man made reservoir in the United States, Toledo Bend is a gorgeous place to simply look at—let alone the beach here! The shore of this lake is perfect for sunbathing and taking a swim. You might even feel like you’re on the shore of one of the great lakes ☺
2. White Sands Lake Day Beach, 52129 Sandstone Blvd., Franklinton, LA
This beachy destination is perfect for a day trip and will definitely keep you and all of your loved ones entertained for hours. Don’t forget the sunblock!

3. Fontainebleau State Park, 62883 Highway 1089, Mandeville, LA
Lake Pontchartrain is one of the largest lakes in Louisiana and the shores are awesome for relaxing and beaching. The beaches here at Fontainebleau State Park are the perfect spot to bring the family. There are plenty of picnic tables and a jungle gym that will make it really fun.
This area of the coast took an enormous beating during Hurricane Rita, making people fear that the good old days of this beach, affectionately known as the "Cajun Rivieria", were over. Yet, although the place has less development than it used to, the coast here is still gorgeous, and there are some cabins you can rent to have an amazing time here.
East down Hwy 82 from Holly Beach you’ll find Rutherford, another area that was hit hard by Hurricane Rita but still has some gorgeous sand to soak up. You’ll enjoy the ample fishing and boating opportunities that can be found here, as well as the gorgeous sunsets.
6. Cypremort State Park, 306 Beach Ln, Cypremort Point, LA
This park on Vermilion Bay has one of the most pleasant beaches in Louisiana. It’s a great summer destination for the whole family, as the elevated park cabins offer awesome views and plenty of places to relax in the water.
7. Lake D’Arbonne State Park, 3628 Evergreen Road, Bernice, LA
While there are countless good reasons to pay a visit to his North Louisiana state park, the beach is definitely a highlight—not to mention they have a swimming pool too! Perfect for keeping your bathing suit on all day and just soaking up the sun.
8. North Beach, N. Lakeshore Dr., Lake Charles , LA
During the summer months, this beach area comes alive with a $1 admission per car. North Beach boasts as the only white sand inland beach, easy to access directly after I-10, exit 29.
