What should I put on my Louisiana bucket list?

Traveling through Louisiana is in and of itself a bucket-list-worthy experience. Of course, once you're there, you'll want to try to see and do as much as possible. The Pelican State is a treasure trove of historic destinations, cultural sites, incredible dining options, and outdoor wonders. And speaking of the outdoors, we've put together an outdoor bucket list to help you embrace the wild side of Louisiana in any season. At the top of our list is the Wild Azalea Trail, which happens to be the longest trail in the state. Measuring 24 miles, this point-to-point trail features beautiful, unique scenery at every turn. While it's possible to hike this trail any time of the year, spring is especially memorable, as the namesake azaleas are out in full force. For another fun trail, you can't go wrong with the Tammany Trace, a converted rail trail that measures 31 miles. Along the way, you'll pass some seriously charming towns, such as Covington, Mandeville, Lacombe, Abita Springs, and Slidell. For a healthy dose of wildlife, our next recommendation is a trip to Lake Martin. This place is perfect for birding enthusiasts, but it's also teeming with alligators. Some other bucket-list-worthy destinations include Vermillion Bay, Barataria Preserve, and Grand Isle State Park.
