From horses to politics to basketball, there’s a lot of wealth lingering in the Commonwealth. Here are some of the state’s top earners.
1. B. Wayne Hughes
Valued at an estimated $2.5 billion according to Forbes, this octogenarian is quite about trying to keep his earnings private (we did our research). He also founded the company, Public Storage.
2. John Calipari
It's no surprise, one of Kentucky's top men's basketball coaches makes the list and he earns about $6.5 million + annually.
3. Mary Gaylord
From Simpsonville, KY she owns a lot of Nashville, Opryland and multiple companies. Sister to hotel owner who passed, Edward Gaylord, who was worth about $1.8 billion. Gaylord Entertainment Co. and OPUBCO are estimated to be worth about $2.5 billion.
4. Papa John Schnatter
Clocking in at around 600 million, the Papa John's star is from Jeffersonville (very close to KY, with franchise and headquarters located in the state).
5. Brad M. Kelley
Although he technically lives in Franklin, TN now, he was born and raised in Bowling Green, KY. He's worth about $1.9 billion
6. Mitch McConnell
One of Kentucky's most notable politicians is worth about 9.8 million.
7. Patricia and Pricilla Barnstable Brown
The annual Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala drops lots of dollars (a majority to charity) and notable celebrities every year. It's also dubbed the "Ten Best Parties in the World" by Conde Nast. Their net worth is still "under review" but, where do you think it's at?
