Our citizens feel strongly that Kentucky is a great place to live. When considered with other states, by comparison, we’re confident it is true. Some people may not see the Bluegrass State as perfect, but it is close enough to perfect for us. Here are 10 things Kentucky is number one at, at least according to residents:
Sadly, our state leads the U.S. when it comes to lung cancer according to KYcancerc.org and UsNews, along with other sources. On the positive side, we have some of the best doctors and programs in the U.S. to help combat the vicious disease. The ribbon represents breast cancer, but it is a symbol of hope we can all recognize.
Even if we don’t win the championship, our college basketball fans will likely still deem us #1. Kentucky has diehard fans that completely support their chosen team. It has been that way for years.

Believe it or not, 95% of the worlds bourbon is supplied from Kentucky. Even if you don’t like to drink or cook with it, bourbon is a big part of our economy. If the world ever went dry, we’d be an impoverished state.

Kentucky is home to Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby and the longest consecutively running horse race in the U.S. This is the one time of year our state gets positive worldwide attention pretty much on cue.
Many states have very mild seasonal changes, with some only experiencing two or three extreme temperature changes each year. Kentucky takes you to all four realms of seasonal madness. The most amazing thing about our weather is the extreme changes can occur within 24 hours. Going from single digits to 70s within 24 hours doesn’t happen just anywhere…

The friendly people, preserved history and traditional serenity of the town helps peoples commune with a different lifestyle, and sense of well being.
There are only a few places in the world to witness a moonbow, as circumstances have to be perfect for one to occur. In the U.S., Kentucky is proud to have our Cumberland Falls moonbow, which appears quite frequently.
