Everyone’s definition of perfection varies, but most can agree that a neighborhood that includes beautiful homes, walkability, plenty of green space, and locally-owned amenities sounds pretty ideal. You may not think that you can have this lifestyle or that such a perfect community exists, but it does, and it can be found right here in Kentucky. Norton Commons is a planned neighborhood on the east side of Louisville, and from the moment you pull into its entrance, you’ll understand why we think it’s in the running for the absolute most perfect neighborhood in Kentucky.
Norton Commons is located on the east side of Louisville in an area that saw a great amount of growth and development in the 1990s.
This 595-acre property was once owned by George W. Norton, who is known for putting WAVE-TV on the air and for his WAVE Farm, which would eventually become Norton Commons.
When determining how to develop this land, once they saw that it was no longer ideal for farming, so Mr. Norton's family collaborated with developers to create a community that explored the idea of "New Urbanism."
After significant input from the city and much planning, the idea was put into action.

Norton Commons is now a lively community with a charming town square, multiple parks, a school, gathering places, and, of course, incredibly stunning homes.
It's a nod to neighborhoods of the past where you could walk to school, stroll to the local market, and spend time with friends and family. While the picturesque homes are truly a highlight of the community, the Town Center is also an incredible feature. You'll find almost 60 independently-owned businesses with a variety of restaurants, retail shops, salons, and even doctor's offices. It's the ultimate small-town feel in a modern community.
The eye-catching homes are a major draw of the neighborhood, as each one is different and perfectly lovely.
As this community promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, imagine walking your dog along these wide sidewalks, stopping to chat with a neighbor, and ending up at one of the many parks.
Meeting Street Park is one of many parks, but with a beautiful fountain, central location, and events throughout the year, it may just be the most favorite.
Another favorite spot is the amphitheater, which overlooks a lovely, serene lake.
