Kentucky has countless beautiful parks, each with their own features and character. We are lucky here in the Bluegrass State to have so many naturally beautiful spaces, right in our own backyards. In Lexington, there is one particular park that may seem ordinary at first, but it will surprise you in the best ways possible. Jacobson Park has a magical quality that will transport you far, far away without actually leaving Kentucky.

Jacobson Park is located on the east side of Lexington and at first glance appears to be just your typical park.

Its 216-acres are lovely, no doubt, but once you're there, it probably won't take long for you to experience the magic of this surprising property.
The reservoir located within the park is a main focal point, and is the backdrop of some of the most incredible scenery you'll find anywhere in Kentucky.

Sunrise is pure magic at Jacobson Park, and the perfect way to start your day. Although just a simple lake, the colors are often awe-inspiring and the setting is unbelievably serene.
You also must experience a sunset at the park, where once again a magic show is performed.

You won't be able to tell where Earth ends and the skies begin. You'll feel as if you can walk on the calm waters and the colors will appear as a painting in front of you.

A couple of years ago, a photographer brought an old piano into the woods for a photo shoot. It was left there for awhile, and the scene even went viral as visitors guessed at how it got there. It's appropriate given the magical quality of this park. The piano is no longer there, but the area remains just as enchanting.
Jacobson Park is typical in that it has walking trails, a wonderfully updated playground, and a lake that offers paddle boating and fishing. But it also has something extra special.
