October is coming, and with it comes pumpkins, the Charlie Brown Halloween special and, of course, the living dead running a muck in search of brains. Are YOU prepared for a Kansas zombie infestation? If you answered no, you’ve come to the right place, as we will take a look at the eight best places to hide in Kansas in the event of a zombie apocalypse.
1. Epic Center (Wichita)
Fact: Zombies are mindless and don't have the coordination to climb multiple flights of stairs.
Fact: Coming in at 320 feet, the Epic Center in Wichita is the tallest building in Kansas. Hike on up to the 22nd floor and breathe easy...They aren't going to get you!
2. Fort Riley (Junction City)
During the day, Fort Riley has a population of 25,000, many of which are America's finest soldiers. Once they get word of a zombie infestation and form a firing squad, those zombies are d-e-a-d (for real, this time).
3. Subterra Castle (Dover)
What was once used as a Cold War protective underground cavern is now an 11,000 sq ft home with bedrooms, bathrooms, underground tunnels and plenty of places to hang while you wait out the apocalypse.
According to researchers at Cornell University, the last place you want to be during an apocalypse is a big city. That being said, pick any smaller, rural town and chill. (I'd choose Goodland because it isn't close to anything big and has plenty of selfie opportunities.)
5. Atop the Verrückt (Kansas City)
Trust me; no zombie is going to climb to the top of a 168 ft. 7 in. water slide...and with the fall season in full force, you won't have to worry about fighting your way to the top!
6. Tyson Foods Plant (Emporia)
Think about it: The Tyson factory has minimal windows, heavy duty doors and sharp objects galore! If you can't make it to Emporia, maybe try...
7. Tony's Pizza Plant (Salina)
Same concept as the Tyson factory, only with a more central location! If you can't get to Salina either, might I suggest...
8. Your local Walmart
...Walmart? Think about it: it has minimal windows (like a factory), plenty of food, water, firearms, and ammunition. What could possibly go wrong?!
