We just don’t give western Kansas enough love. There is a lot more to do on the eastern side of things, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore all of the beauty and history found way out west in our other half. Western Kansans drive hours just to attend events in eastern Kansas, so we should do the same. Let’s see some of what they’ve got to offer!
Arikaree breaks is a beautiful area in the northwest corner of Kansas that you just can't miss. These hills and valleys are some of Kansas' most beautiful scenery, if you've got the time to drive out here.
Thought it isn't really a mountain, the tallest point in Kansas is aptly named Mount Sunflower. It's a great spot to stop, add your name to the book in the mailbox, and take a few gorgeous photos of western Kansas' natural landscape and sky.

This towering almost 70-foot high chalk formation used to be part of a sea floor, but today sits in a dry and dusty area in Gove county. It's sitting on private property, so make sure to be respectful if you stop by for a photo, and to leave no trash or broken pieces behind.

This museum is dedicated to recording each and every president that didn't win the election. Their life and experiences provide an interesting view on the turning points of society here in the U.S. and lead you to wonder what life would have been if they had won instead.
Another museum full of history that some have forgotten, the Last Indian Raid museum brings out the history of what it was like to survive as a settler in western Kansas all those years ago.
