This Magical Waterfall Campground In Kansas Is Unforgettable

When it comes to getting the most out of your camping trip, several locals are confused and believe they need to travel out west to get the most out of their experience. This couldn’t be any further from the truth. In fact, today we are talking about a little known local campground that allows you to get up close and personal with one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state. Kansas, I give you Pillsbury Crossing Wildlife Area and the Deep Creek Waterfall:

Named for Free-State settler Joseph Pillsbury, Pillsbury Crossing Wildlife Area and Deep Creek Waterfall is a limestone slab that the pioneers once used to help cross the raging waters of the Deep Creek. Today, this Manhattan gem is home to the famous 40-foot-wide, 5-foot-tall waterfall, unique wildlife sightings and some of the best fishing in the state. However, one of our favorite things to do in the area is to camp and—fortunately for us—this is entirely possible when granted permission and a special permit by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism! Can you imagine getting to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the clear and pristine waters cascading off the edge of the limestone? I sure can…
