Whether you’ve lived in Iowa all your life, or you just moved here, you have probably noticed that there are certain state traditions and local foods that almost all Iowans have come to love – like these 12 amazing things that people in Iowa can’t live without:
1. College football.
Who needs a professional team when you have the Hawkeyes and the Cyclones?!
2. Maid Rites.
Maid Rites were born in Iowa, and they haven't left since. This is a staple in every Iowan's diet.
3. Pork Tenderloins.
Another staple in every Iowan's diet is the breaded pork tenderloin. You can't find one like it anywhere else.
4. Sweet Corn.
Iowans also can't live without their sweet corn. If you've had Iowa sweet corn, everywhere else's sweet corn will taste like rubber in comparison.
5. Fresh produce from the local farmer's market.
We Iowans are blessed to have some delicious, fresh produce available right around the corner at our local farmer's markets.
6. Being able to enjoy all four, glorious seasons.
Endless summers may seem nice at first, but they are so dull compared to the wild and crazy weather that we get to experience here in Iowa.
7. All of our fairs and festivals.
Iowa has some of the best fairs and festivals ever. The Iowa State Fair is obviously one, but also all the fun little festivals like the sweet corn festival, Trek Fest, or Hobo Days.
8. Blue Bunny ice cream.
When the ice cream capital of the world is in your state, delicious ice cream is never far.
9. Puppy Chow.
This stuff is so addicting, it's no wonder we Iowans can't get enought of it.
Here in Iowa, we're all about family - the bigger the better. We just can't live without 'em.
11. Iowa's breathtaking scenery.
One of the best parts of living in Iowa is the amazing natural beauty that surrounds us every day. From the sunrise in the morning to the sunset in the evening, everything is more beautiful in Iowa.
12. Our fellow Iowans.
When it comest to the people, Iowa's got the best of the best. Iowans are the nicest people you will ever meet, and Iowa just wouldn't be Iowa without them.
