There are strict rules that dictate the proportions and orientation of the building. The entrance must be due east or due north. Location of nearby water, other buildings close by, and exposure to the rising sun all play a role in how the MVA architect designs the building.
In 2000, the Maharishi planned to build 3,000 peace palaces like the ones in Iowa. Their proposed locations were all over the world.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1918-2008) developed the Transcendental Meditation technique between 1955 and the late 1970s. He was guru to the Beach Boys and the Beatles. He started the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi program, offering practitioners the ability to levitate and to help create world peace.

The city, incorporated in 2001, is under the enlightened leadership of The Honorable Mayer Dr. Robert G. Wynne. According to the Vedic City website, the city has "adopted as its constitution the Constitution of the Universe, which administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order."

According to these architectural principals, the effects of stars, planets, moon, and sun are all important. The equator and poles are reference points.
"The Mansion" is the headquarters for the Global Country of World Peace in Maharishi Vedic City. Symmetry plays an important role here, as well.
