Iowa may not have sprawling ocean beaches, but it does have a plethora of beautiful natural swimming spots in its many lakes and rivers. Of course, everyone’s heard of or been to the Okoboji and Spirit Lake and had a blast swimming, water skiing, going to Arnolds Amusement Park, shopping and eating and just generally enjoying the bustling crowds and tourist attractions that the area has to offer. But sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere a little more off the beaten path, to just get away from it all and soak in the natural beauty from the warm sand and scenic water.

We think that Lake Geode, in Danville’s beautiful Geode State Park, is a hidden gem that provides relaxation and fun in the sun without all of the hustle and bustle.
