Have you ever wondered which towns in Indiana are the safest and most peaceful to live in? These are towns where murder almost never happens and assault, robbery, burglary, and vehicle theft rates are pretty low. The towns and cities featured in this piece are easily some of the better places to live in the state of Indiana.
The population in Lowell, Indiana is roughly 9,000 people. You don't have to worry about getting murdered or robbed while you are in this cozy town. Vehicle theft rates are way down and assault and burglary rates are less than 200. You can find this safe town all the way in the north western corner of the state.
Murder and robbery are two crimes the people of Auburn never worry about. Vehicle theft and assault are also two crimes that almost never happen here with there being only 100 cases for every 100,000 people/vehicles. Auburn is known for being the Home of the Classics. You can find this comfortable little city near the north east corner of the state.
This is yet another town in Indiana where murder is not really a problem. The rate of assault and robbery is also less than 20 cases in this town. Nappanee has a population of less than 7,000 people. Did you know this city is recognized for having one of the longest names in the United States where each letter in the name repeats at least once? Interestingly enough tornados tend to kill and cause more damage than people do in this city.
4. Tell City
In 2015, there were less than 30 assault and robbery cases in Tell City. There were also less than 100 stolen vehicles. Furthermore, there were no murder cases.
Bargersville is a very small town that stretches across just 1.1 square miles of space. That doesn’t really leave a lot of room for people to commit crimes. Like Zionsville, for every 1,000 crimes committed in the town less than 2 of them are considered violent. Furthermore, it's pretty rare to see any crimes even committed in the town. You also never worry about property crimes in this town.
If you’ve ever talked to someone who lives in Zionsville you'll notice one thing – they tend to have a lot of things to brag about. People of Zionsville tend to claim they live in the safest city in the entire state. They also claim to have a more highly educated population than anyone else in the state. This is a great living spot for someone who wants to start a business and it's conveniently located near two major highways. They also have a really young community, making it an easy place for children to make friends. For every 1,000 crimes committed in this city in a year less than 2 of them are considered violent. Furthermore, property crimes really don’t seem to happen in Zionsville.
Westville is a popular living choice if you're looking for a lot of activities. It has a small town charm that you're not going to find in many other places. It's also conveniently located near a number of great cities with a lot to offer anyone who's willing to give them a chance. This is also a semi-rural area which is perfect and peaceful for someone who is looking to get away. Crime is slightly more likely here than some of the other towns and cities in this list, but only by a rate of 1.87 per 1,000 crimes.
Carmel is recognized as one of the safest and fastest growing communities in the entire state. In fact, this city has earned a lot of kudos and honors for being one of the safest and most beautiful places to live in the entire state. It's even recognized as one of the top ten cities for children in the United States. With more than 80,000 people living here, the fact that the rate of violent crimes for every 1,000 crimes is 0.13 is pretty incredible.
Fishers is considered to be one of the better examples in the state of how the government, the police, and the citizens work together in order to build a peaceful community. Fishers is a city that makes a huge attempt to be aware of what the citizens want and need for better quality of life. Unsurprisingly, Fishers is not a place where violent crimes (or any crimes) frequently happen.
10. St. John
St. John is known for being a very family friendly place and it's the place to be if you're into computers. They have many sprawling suburbs that are all as peaceful and safe as you could ever want. This is not a town where parents need to worry about their children playing outside.
Decatur is a community that has a very bright and growing future. This is a city where you never need to worry about walking down the street or cutting through back alleys. Believe it or not violent crimes are less likely to be committed in Decatur than Zionsville or Bargersville.
I know, I know, a lot of these are cities. You’ll also find that when you look a lot of these up online you’re going to see a pretty even mix between them being referred to as towns and cities.
