Did you know that the official loneliest road in America cuts right through Indiana? US-50 is well over 3,000 miles and cuts through a dozen states across the country. It earned its title because it cuts through many tiny towns throughout the U.S. and where it passes through in Indiana is no exception. Here’s what to expect if you take a drive down our state’s portion of the loneliest road.
If you enter from Illinois, traveling east bound, this is what you'll encounter when you first hit Indiana.
Heading eastbound, one of the first small, historic towns you'll hit will be Vincennes. This small town has an interesting main street and a great history - it was actually the original capital of Indiana!

You'll then cut through small towns like Loogootee untl you wind up in Bedford, Indiana, a small town known as the limestone capital of the world. You'll want to poke around this tiny town if you have the time.

Here's a view just east of Bedford along US 50. This road might be lonely, but it sure is beautiful!
