Can you believe that it is already November? Fall is zooming right past us, and before we know it Georgia will be in the midst of winter. Here are nine common thoughts everyone in Georgia has when winter is coming.
1. It's time to change to our winter clothes.
You know how you can get away with some summer clothes in the fall, such as short sleeves and bare legs? Well, when winter comes we really have to pack those clothes up and exchange them for sweaters, hats, and coats. Sure people in Georgia enjoy moderate weather in the fall, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get really cold in the winter!
2. I hope we’re not snowed in our car this year.
Nobody in Georgia wants another episode of the mini-apocalypse we experienced in 2014, but we are definitely thinking about it…
3. I hope we have winter days where we don’t have to go to work/school.
Even though people in Georgia don’t want to be snowed in, they also secretly hope for that inch of snow that’ll let us all stay home for two weeks!
4. The holidays are coming!
With winter comes the realization that the holidays are near. This means a flurry of present buying and house decorating. The social calendars become full with family events in the near future.
5. I have to prepare for my family!
Us folks in Georgia are really big on family, so that means huge family dinners and holiday parties at the house. This also means a whole lot of cooking, cleaning and decorating in the house!
6. I can’t believe the year went by so fast.
Suddenly there’s the realization that the New Year is just around the corner, and we flurry to get something meaningful done with the rest of our year! We also realize just how fast life goes by, and make sure to take some time to appreciate loved ones.
7. I’ll start that diet right after I get my slice of Nana’s sweet potato pie.
The winter time is prime time for southern cooking in Georgia. It’s also one of the only times of year where we let go of our dietary restrictions and enjoy the food our family prepares for us with love!
8. It's the perfect time to travel to the North Georgia Mountains.
It’s also the perfect time to take a trip to the North Georgia Mountains and rent a cabin. It’s so beautiful in the winter season. You just have to find time to take a weekend cabin trip with friends and family this year.
9. I’m so grateful…
We did it! We survived another year. The coming of winter gives us the incentive to think and reflect on all the good times and bad times we had throughout the year as, well as all the things we have to be grateful for.
