Sure, Georgians already believed their state was darn cool since living here, but it’s time we let the rest of the world know. 1. We’re opening up an edible cookie dough shop and THAT is darn cool.

Soon, Ponce City Market is going to have an edible cookie dough shop called Batter Cookie Dough Counter, where guests can feast on sweet, soul-satisfying bowls and cones of their favorite types of cookie dough. Sounds like pure heaven to us.
2. Our cities have exploded with creativity and culture at every turn.

Have you ever been to Krog Street in Atlanta? Have you ever walked around the beltline and gazed at all the incredible street art and wall murals? Our creativity and culture is bursting at the seams and we couldn’t be more excited.
3. We’ve turned into a Hollywood wonderland practically overnight.

While different films and TV shows have been filmed here throughout the years, lately Georgia has been a Hollywood hub. It’s not too far-fetched to be walking down the street and wander upon one of your favorite TV shows being filmed, or even becoming an extra on set.
4. The graduation rate for our youth has been steadily increasing.

This is something to truly boast about. In 2012 the graduation rate for high schoolers in Georgia was at 69.7%. However, since changes have been made throughout the years, we have recently clocked in at 80.6%. Keep up the great work, Georgians!
5. We are where the leaf peepers go to experience beauty each year.

Not everyone in the country experiences the changing of the leaves like we do in Georgia. That’s why we’ve become one of the top destinations to visit every fall. The beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains cannot be rivaled and are worth a gander this upcoming autumn.

7. The Center for Disease Control is headquartered in our state, which is great for Zombie Preparedness.

You think we’re joking…but if ever there was a zombie apocalypse, you would want to be in Georgia. Even the CDC has zombie contingency plan to make it out alive.
8. We have wild horses literally roaming our beaches.

There aren’t too many places in the country where wild horses roam free, undisturbed, living in their natural habitat. This is why Cumberland Island is so special to Georgians. Not only do we honor these animals, but we also can appreciate their home from a distance without disturbing their livelihood.
9. We have become a hub for true Southern home cooking.

Georgia is a foodie paradise. Restaurants are opening up constantly, showcasing award winning chefs and dishes each month. Yet, sometimes it’s also the tried-and-true restaurants in Georgia that too, make each meal worthwhile.
10. We have cat cafes—enough said.

This may just be one of the coolest parts about the state (if you’re a cat lover, of course). Cat cafes originated in Japan, but lately have been popping up in the United States. We’re lucky enough to have our own Cat Cafes open here (Java Cats Cafe and Happy Tabby Cat Cafe) which means cuddling with adoptable kittens while simultaneously sipping on some coffee is not too far-fetched.
11. Our capital city was named one of the best coffee cities in America.
