Wakodahatchee Wetlands: An Awesome Activity In Florida That Won't Cost You A Cent

Florida is just full of fabulous places to explore, but some are more expensive than others. If you’re wallet is feeling a little light this month, try this awesome activity. It’s totally free!

The Wakodahatchee Wetlands is located in Delray Beach. The land is owned by Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department, but it was unused for years.

In 1996, the 50-acre wetlands were created and opened to the public. You'll find this gorgeous park at 13026 Jog Road. It's open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm, and admission is free!

To explore the wetlands, walk along the 3/4 mile boardwalk.

The boardwalk takes you between ponds and through marshes, where you can see nesting birds and wildlife. Along the way, rest on benches and stop in gazebos.

You'll see over 170 species of birds here.

...and some take flight as you approach.

All are interesting - bring your binoculars to get a close-up view!
