There’s a lot to love about Florida, but even natives can name a few things they could do without. Here are the top 10 things Floridians are just plain sick of:
1. Humidity
Humidity doesn't just feel icky and ruin your hairstyle, it actually makes it harder for your body to cool itself in high temperatures. Seriously, we can all live without this one.
2. Roaches
I don't always see roaches when I walk outside, but when I do, they're flying at my head. That's why Floridians hate roaches.
3. People who think Florida is only Miami and Disney World
Seriously? Florida has the third largest population in the country. We couldn't possibly all live in the same city.
4. Mosquitoes
They're annoying, and they spread diseases. Enough said.
5. Florida Man
Florida Man is the fictional character made up of every bad/ridiculous news story to come out of Florida. He's a large part of the reason Florida is seen negatively in other parts of the country. Trust us, we don't really like him (or Florida Woman), either.
6. Lovebugs
These obnoxious creatures even have a season named after them here. We wouldn't shed a tear if they disappeared forever.
7. Spring Break!!!!
Anything that crowds the beaches with hoards of immature drunk people gets old fast. We think 50 years is long enough.
8. Sinkholes
The thought that your house (with you inside!) could be swallowed up by the Earth at any moment is truly the stuff of nightmares.
9. Lightning
Lightning doesn't just strike a few unlucky people here once in a while. Florida is the lightning capital of the country, so it's a very real danger here.
10. Driving
Some people blame it on tourists or snowbirds, and some people blame it on the elderly. Whatever the cause, Florida can be an irritating, or even scary, place to drive.
