Every Florida kid knows all you need for a slip ‘n slide is a tarp, a hose, some soap and a few big rocks to hold it down (dodging rocks is part of the challenge). While that’s a perfect formula for free summer fun, these huge slides set up right in the middle of your city promise to be a lot more epic.

Two companies, Slide the City and The Urban Slide will be bringing slides the length of three football fields to a city near you this summer. So far, the available dates and locations are Fort Lauderdale on May 2nd and Pensacola on May 30th for Slide the City, and Jacksonville on May 30th to 31st for The Urban Slide.

Future events are planned for Miami, Tampa, Gainesville, Ocala, Tallahassee, Orlando and Lakeland for Slide the City and Miami, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee and Orlando for The Urban Slide. Sign up for the newsletters on their websites, and they’ll let you know when they’re on their way to your city!

Ticket prices vary by how early they’re ordered and how many turns on the slide you want to take. There’s currently a Groupon for the Jacksonville event, so hurry and get your discounted tickets.

Children must be over 5 years old to slide, and any person under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parents. Certain tickets require you bring your own tube or buy one when you get there, so make sure you check all the details when you purchase your tickets.

The events will feature music and food vendors, and both slides go to great lengths to recirculate and conserve the water used. A portion of The Urban Slide’s proceeds go to local charities.

So come on out for some extreme summer fun, Florida!
