There are innumerable awesome trails in Florida, but this trail beginning in Bulow Creek State Park in Flagler Beach isn’t too difficult and will take you somewhere really unique. Hikers begin at The Fairchild Oak, a 400-year-old Live Oak and one of the largest of its kind in the region. In addition, the impressive stand of ancient Live Oaks here is one of the largest remaining stands in East Florida. This would be reason enough to visit, but this unique hike in FL will lead you to much more.

The Bulow Woods Trail runs a 6.8-mile path shaded by majestic oaks. Keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, barred owls, and other native wildlife. The trail ends at Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park, where the plantation was burned down by Seminole Indians in 1836 during the Second Seminole War. The buildings were made of coquina and included the largest sugar mill in Florida. The park has an outdoor museum to preserve the ruins and artifacts found at the site.

These parks are popular for picnicking, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Below are several photos from the parks that will hopefully convince you to take this trail. For more information on the history of this location, check out the video below them.
