This Restaurant In Florida Is Located In The Most Unforgettable Setting
Food is definitely the most important factor in what makes a restaurant great, but atmosphere is a close second. Of course, the holy grail of dining is when you find a restaurant that has the best of both. Like this gem located in one of our favorite state parks, for example:
Good morning! Are you ready to take a trip to one of our favorite breakfast spots in the state?
Not only is the food here delicious, it's located in an unforgettable setting —a historic building in one of our awesome state parks.
That's right, we're talking about The Old Spanish Sugar Mill Grill and Griddle House at De Leon Springs State Park in Volusia County.
The mill was originally built in the 1800s to crush sugar cane, but the one you see today is a reconstruction from 1900. It was scheduled for destruction in 1961 when Peter Schwarze decided to restore the mill and use the building to grind flour.
This naturally led to a bakery and restaurant utilizing the fresh-ground flours, but with a unique twist. Tables were fitted with electric griddles in the middle, so guests can pour and flip their own pancakes.
These incredibly fresh and fluffy pancakes are some of the best you will ever try. If you're not a big fan of pancakes, though, there are plenty of other options on the menu.
The best part is that after your delicious breakfast, you get to spend the whole day swimming in the springs and exploring the park.
The whole family can find something to enjoy here, including hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and the 50-minute Fountain of Youth boat tour.
