It’s not always a day at the beach, but it has taught me some valuable lessons. 1. Be Prepared for Anything Flickr/dichohecho You have to be prepared for anything here. I always have to carry water, allergy relief, a camera, and lots more. 2. Luck is Overrated Flickr/Lisa Brewster I know we're big on the lottery in Florida, but to be honest with you I never win, even scratch-offs. Hard work and creativity are way more rewarding and don't cost a thing. 3. Avoid Bloodsuckers Flickr/tanakawho The insect kind and the human kind. Don't waste too much time on people who suck your time and energy and don't seem to have your best interests at heart. 4. Don't Drink the Haterade Flickr/Jacob Botter Though it's usually easier to get jealous or share gossip, it's better to celebrate the success of others and try to learn from it. 5. A Little Imagination Goes a Long Way Flickr/Jeff Christiansen Can you believe all of this started with a man and a mouse? Disney is a great lesson in how far imagination and creativity can take you. 6. Life's Not Always a Day at the Beach Flickr/naql I love the saying that the world doesn't owe you anything; it was here first. Don't expect things to be easy, and you won't be disappointed when things get hard. 7. Bloom Where You're Planted Flickr/James Jordan Remember your roots, and when you succeed don't forget the people who helped you. 8. Keep Calm and Carry On pixabay.com You can get so much more done when you stay calm and collect your thoughts before acting. 9. The Sun Will Rise Again Tomorrow Flickr/Micolo J Or in Florida, maybe in the next five minutes. Don't waste too much time worrying about the rainy days. Opportunity is always right around the corner if you keep your head up. 10. When Life Gives Your Oranges, Make Orange Juice Flickr/Mattie B Make the best of what you have, and don't worry so much about what you don't. 11. Write Your Plans in Sand, Not Stone Flickr/Rian Castillo Be as flexible as you can, say yes when you can, and keep your mind and your heart open. 12. Be Yourself Rain0975 Don't worry so much what other people think, your authentic self is the best person you can be. 13 . Remember to Say Thank You Flickr/mulmatsherm Don't forget southern hospitality and manners go a long way. Showing gratitude is not only polite, it reminds us all the things we have to be grateful for! Please share your life lessons you learned growing up or living in our great state. Thank you for reading and sharing!
