best apple orchards and the most amazing corn mazes in the area so far this fall. But since we are in October, it is time to turn toward Halloween activities! Pumpkin picking never gets old, no matter how old you are! Visit these 13 charming pumpkin patches near Washington DC and find your perfect pumpkin this fall.
1. Cox Farms - 15621 Braddock Road, Centreville, VA
Cox Farms has a petting zoo, swings, a haunted hay ride, a corn maze and live entertainment in addition to the many beautiful pumpkins available to choose from! They are open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.
2. Ticonderoga Farms - 26469 Ticonderoga Road, Chantilly, VA
A child-friendly farm, Ticonderoga has a huge pumpkin patch, playgrounds, petting zoos and tons of farm fun. They are open every day from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and the entrance closes at 5:00 PM.
3. Montpelier Farms - 1720 Crain Highway, Upper Marlboro MD
Montpelier’s Fall Festival has plenty of attractions and activities for everyone to enjoy. There is a bouncy house, straw bale maze and plenty of pumpkins!
4. Clark’s Elioak Farm Pumpkin Patch - 10500 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City, MD
Clark’s Elioak Farm offers all your favorite fall activities like hayrides, a petting farm, an enchanted forest, play area and pumpkin picking! They are open daily from 10 AM - 6 PM.
5. Burke Nursery and Garden Center - 9401 Burke Road, Burke VA
For over 20 years, Burke Nursery hosts their Fall Festival & Pumpkin Playground where visitors can enjoy hayrides, a pumpkin fort, slides, playgrounds and the perfect pumpkins for picking!
6. Wegmeyer Farm - 38299 Hughesville Rd, Hamilton VA
Wegmeyer has over 50 different types of pumpkins you can pick in the patch or your can find in the old stone barn that was built in the 1700s. There is no fee for Wegmeyer Farm and they are open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM.
7. Queen Anne Farm - 18102 Central Ave Bowie, MD
Queen Anne is a picturesque farm in Bowie Maryland where you can find the perfect pumpkin. If you want the extra work done for you, you can even request a pre-cleaned pumpkin or have the farm staff carve one for you.
8. Crumland Farms - 7612 Willow Rd Frederick, MD
Crumland Farm originally began as a small dairy farm in 1940 but now the farm sells many different types of produce. During the Halloween season, you can explore the corn maze or play zombie paintball after you pick pumpkins.
9. Rock Hill Orchard - 28600 Ridge Road, Mount Airy, Maryland
Rock Hill is a beautiful orchard in Maryland. In addition to picking your pumpkin, you can also pick your own flowers, peaches, apples or vegetables. Or you can shop the farm market for pre-picked fruits and vegetables.
10. Gaver Farm - 5501 Derrick Rd, Mount Airy, MD
This scenic Maryland Farm has a Family Fun Festival until Halloween. In addition to picking your pumpkin, you can explore the corn maze, jump on a giant pillow or pet the farm animals. Enjoy a scenic walk or hay ride to the patch to pick your pumpkin.
11. Butler’s Orchard - 22222 Davis Mill Rd
Technically, Butler’s Orchard is the best place to pick apples but it also has a wide variety of pumpkins! This year Butler’s Orchard is hosting their 36th Annual Pumpkin Festival which features hayrides, giant slides, hole games, a corn maze and much, much more! The Festival is every weekend in October from 10 AM - 5 PM.
12. Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch - 6521 Holter Rd, Middletown MD
Jumbo’s is a beautiful 30-acre pumpkin patch in Maryland. They have a 14-acre corn maze, wagon rides, a petting zoo and beautiful crafts and decor in their general store.
13. Brookfield Pumpkins - 8302 Ramsburg Road, Thurmont, MD
Brookfield is celebrating their 20th year in 2016. Explore 13 acres of pumpkins and gourds for all of your pumpkin needs. Once you have found your pumpkin, visit the petting zoo or the fun corn table.
