One of the best things about DC is that it’s not hard to get to nature. We are a city with arts, culture, museums and easy access to just about anywhere. But whenever anyone in DC gets the urge to explore nature, they have options just a few minutes away. If you want to avoid the crowds of Rock Creek Park and avoid an hour drive to one of the great hiking spots, we have a perfect spot for you. Long Branch Nature Center is a beautiful nature center that is just 20 minutes outside of DC!
Long Branch is the perfect escape for Washingtonians who need some nature.
It's 20 minutes outside of DC in Arlington, VA. It's 18 acres of meadows, ponds, forest and trails.
There's a small indoor area with terrariums with snakes, frogs and toads.
While the indoor is educational, the real excitement is outside on the grounds.
There are several trails including a paved trail that leads to the WO&D Trail.
Most guests love to spot wildlife while exploring the center. It's home to deer, birds, snakes, insects, bunnies, raccoons, squirrels, and foxes, among other animals.
The center is free to visit so you can take as long as you want to explore and wander around the trails.
Visitors can bring food to picnic or grill out.
The nature center is perfect for any outdoor activity. You can bring your kids to learn about plans and wildlife. It's a great place for a unique date or a peaceful place to enjoy nature.
Long Branch Nature Center is located at 625 S Carlin Springs Rd, Arlington, VA 22204. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-5pm and on Sundays from 1pm to 5pm.
