A “Best of the Gold Coast” member and a constant on Open Table’s “Diner’s Choice,” The Schoolhouse at Cannondale has a menu that will make you melt. But it’s not just the plates that make this spot unique. It doesn’t just look like a schoolhouse, it actually used to be one.

Please note, The Schoolhouse at Cannondale has permanently closed.

This schoolhouse was built in 1872, just after the Civil War. While the outside still resembles a New England school, quaint and full of charm, the interior has been completely remodeled.

June Havoc, Hollywood and vaudeville star, originally purchased the schoolhouse for $1 and later moved it to Cannondale. She chose the perfect spot because this place is loaded with charm and has outdoor seating right at the river's edge.
