The rural gem and its roughly 1,200 residents overlook Lake Waramaug and it's easily one of the most gorgeous places to experience fall. But because of its small size and quiet lifestyle, not many people know it exists.

But residents stay because there's absolutely no reason to leave. Despite its remote feel there are shops to discover and even a couple of restaurants. Plus it's also home to Hopkins Vineyard, which could take up the whole day by itself.
