This easy hike is truly incredible! Even if you’re not an experienced hiker, there are still opportunities to explore nature and experience soaring views. Especially when those views are only a twenty minute hike away! So pick a nice warm Saturday and pack a backpack full of sandwiches to really stretch this adventure. Welcome to East Rock Park in New Haven, Connecticut.

The 427-acre park is included on the National Register of Historic Places and encompasses the large ridge known as East Rock. The park is open year-round; the road is open seasonally. However, most folks prefer to take a more creative path to the top.
The Giant Steps Trail is literally a staircase that has been carved into the ledge for your hiking convenience!

Be careful, as the rocks can be slippery at times, but the railing will help to combat that. The twenty minute trip of winding steps is well worth it and rarely crowded. So, take your time!
