Here Is Some Of The Oldest Video Footage Ever Taken In Colorado And It’s Absolutely Incredible

Since Colorado first became a state in 1876 (and even before), mining has been both a prosperous and vital part of the area’s economy. While mining is no longer as lucrative a career as it once was, its impact on our history is as evident as ever, which can be seen in this vintage documentary that showcases quiet ghost towns and rare footage of old mines.

As per the footage’s description — written by our friends at History Colorado — the video is a State of Colorado Division of Commerce and Development production from the early 1960’s, and depicts the “history of gold mining in Colorado and the legacy of gold mining towns and ghost towns in Colorado, including Ashcroft, Aspen, Apex, Black Hawk, Breckenridge, Central City, Creede, Cripple Creek, Eldorado, Georgetown, Leadville, Ouray, South Park, and Telluride.” Without further ado, here is Colorado Ghost Towns: From Dust to Dawn:
