The Pikes Peak Cog Railway trip takes you 8.1 miles up to the peak. It's a 3 hour and 10 minute trip.

Start your journey at the rail station. You can purchase a snack, or oxygen (which you might need if you're not accustomed to high altitudes). Make sure to bring a jacket - it's very cold at the top.

The railroad uses a double-cog system that allows it to climb the very steep grade. The train's top speed is just nine mph.
