When you think of Arkansas, what comes to mind? Usually if you ask an out-of-towner he or she will tell you a few things that’s been said about the Natural State. What is it that people think of when they are asked about their opinion of Arkansas? Some of the things said are pretty familiar and some may be a little surprising.
The Natural State is a veritable paradise for sportsmen and their canine or family companions, known throughout the country for its popular deer season and duck season every fall and winter.
7. General Wesley Clark
A West Point valedictorian and Rhodes scholar, Gen. Wesley Clark retired from the Army in 2000 after serving as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during the war in Kosovo. He is nationally notable in his run for the 2004 Democratic presidential nomination, dropping out after losing early primaries.
6. Mike Huckabee
The outspoken author and political figure served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. Huckabee was a candidate in the 2008 and 2016 United States Republican presidential primaries.
5. The Fishing
The young and the old enjoy time out on the Arkansas water, whether it's standing on a rock or floating down the Buffalo River, fishermen get their fill of Arkansas stories to spread around.
4. The Barbecue
Very few locations around the US can compete with Arkansas when it comes to great BBQ, and naturally it's first in mind when asked about the Natural State's charms.

They might not be the proudest moment in Arkansas's history of national fame or even a clear representative of the Arkansan family, but the Duggars still continue to make headlines (and make a number of Arkansans shake their head in confusion.)
2. The Clintons
Still a political power household though their address has moved away from the Natural State, Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea have not completely forsaken their Little Rock roots as they visit the capitol city often.

WOOOO PIG SOOOIE! The first thing an out-of-towner usually asks is how the sports team is doing, and Arkansas natives are more than happy to discuss how them Hogs are faring this football or basketball season.
