9. Innovators of Fried Dill Pickles
The fried dill pickle, now a standard at state fairs around America, got its start in Atkins, Arkansas in 1963. The Natural State can proudly claim first place as serving the best fried dill pickles.

Congratulations to arkansas.gov for winning the Best of Web Award for 2015! The award, presented by the Center for Digital Government, has been won by the website in 2011 as well.
7. Best Cavern Discovery in the 20th Century
Blanchard Springs Cavern in the Ozark–St. Francis National Forest was opened to the public in 1973 after a well-publicized and lengthy exploration of the cave began in 1955. The discovery of this location was the largest systematic exploration of a cavern during the 20th century.

Arkansas produces so much bauxite that we gave the name to an entire town. The Natural State is also the world's largest producer of bromine, the basis of many chemical compounds.

The Walton family brand, Walmart, has opened 11,528 stores in 27 countries since the store was founded in Arkansas in 1962.
4. Launching Leading Ladies
Before there was Hillary, there was Hattie. Besides sharing the same initials of HC, both Hillary Clinton and Hattie Caraway are two Arkansas standouts that went on to successful and groundbreaking careers in politics. While Clinton's race to the White House is underway, Caraway was the first woman elected to serve a full term in the US Senate. Caraway was also the first woman to preside over the Senate.

The mighty Buffalo National River in northern Arkansas has the distinction of being the first designated National River in the United States. The beautiful Buffalo is a tough act for any other National River to follow.

Every other diamond mine in the world is closed off to the public. Arkansas is tops when it comes to accessible riches. The Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro is the world's only diamond bearing site accessible to the public.
